Terms & Conditions
The short version
Fredrick is an educational cycle-tracking app for the partner — not a medical device and never a form of birth control. Use it respectfully and with your partner's consent. There's an optional $1/month subscription, billed by Apple, with a free trial. These terms are the full agreement.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and [legal entity / owner name] ("Fredrick", "we", "us") governing your use of the Fredrick iPhone app and the fredrickapp.com website. By downloading, installing, or using Fredrick, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What Fredrick is
Fredrick helps a person track and understand their partner's menstrual cycle: which phase she is likely in, when her next period is likely to arrive (shown as a range), and general, plain-language information about what the cycle may mean for mood and energy. In this version, tracking is done solely by you on your own device; there is no companion app for the person being tracked.
3. Not medical advice
- Cycle predictions are estimates and may be inaccurate, especially early on or with irregular cycles.
- Fredrick must not be used as contraception, to avoid pregnancy, or to plan a pregnancy. Calendar-based prediction is not a reliable fertility method.
- For any medical concern or decision, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
4. Responsible and consensual use
Fredrick deals with sensitive health information about another person. You agree to:
- Use the app only with the knowledge and consent of the person whose cycle you are tracking.
- Use the information to be more understanding and supportive — never to dismiss, pressure, or explain away that person's feelings.
- Comply with all laws that apply to you, including those governing the handling of another person's health information.
You are solely responsible for how you use Fredrick and for obtaining any necessary consent.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and the free trial
Fredrick offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, priced at approximately US$1.00 per month (or the equivalent in your local App Store currency), typically with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial.
- The subscription auto-renews each month until you cancel. You can cancel any time in your iOS Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- If you don't cancel a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription automatically.
- All billing, renewals, and refunds are managed by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.
- Prices may change; we will give notice as required, and material changes will not take effect until your next renewal.
6. License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use one copy of Fredrick on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, copy (except as allowed by the App Store), modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by law.
7. Intellectual property
Fredrick, including its software, content, design, and the Fredrick name and logo, is owned by [legal entity / owner name] and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.
8. Your data
Fredrick stores your information only on your device and collects nothing on its servers, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for backing up or exporting anything you wish to keep; deleting the app or your data is permanent and cannot be recovered by us, because we never hold a copy.
9. Disclaimers
Fredrick is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its predictions or information will be accurate or reliable. Your use of the app is at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fredrick and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of or reliance on the app or its information. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Changes to the app and these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue features of Fredrick at any time. We may also revise these Terms; when we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using Fredrick at any time by cancelling any subscription and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, limitation of liability, and intellectual property) will continue to apply.
13. Apple App Store terms
The following applies because Fredrick is distributed through the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and Fredrick's operator only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding the app, and any other claims are our responsibility.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, and intellectual-property claims.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as "terrorist-supporting," and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [governing-law jurisdiction], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
